Inspiring Children to Love, Laugh, Learn and Live Life in all Its Fullness (John 10:10)

This year, every class are named after a class champion. Throughout the Year the children will learn about their class champion and deliver a special Collective Worship all about what makes them special. By the end of the year the aim is that all of our children know about 6 diverse and amazing champions who make a difference to our world.

Year 4- Miss Luttrell

Year Four’s class champion for 2023-2024 is Rosa Parks.

Rosa Parks occupies an iconic status in the civil rights movement after she refused to vacate a seat on a bus in favour of a white passenger. Her actions inspired the leaders of the local Black community to organize the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Led by a young Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the boycott lasted more than a year—during which Parks not coincidentally lost her job—and ended only when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that bus segregation was unconstitutional. Over the next half-century, Parks became a nationally recognized symbol of dignity and strength in the struggle to end racial segregation, which is why I am excited for my class to learn all about her and become Parks class.
