St Aidan's C of E Academy

Inspiring Children to Love, Laugh, Learn and Live Life in all Its Fullness (John 10:10)

Successful Learners

St Aidan’s offers a safe and caring environment where children feel happy. In partnership with parents, we work to create a school where all children are nurtured to be the best they can be. As a Nurturing School, nurture can be seen throughout the school, we consider the social, emotional, behavioural and personal well-being of the students and through careful monitoring offer nurture groups, support and interventions where needed. This ensures we help break down barriers to learning and allow every child to succeed.

Our school curriculum is carefully planned to be broad and balanced, to give equal importance to all subjects and is delivered through a variety of exciting topics. These topics have been designed to provide excellent learning opportunities where children can develop key skills, enjoy exciting, real-life experiences and make very good progress in all areas of learning as well as developing vital language, maths and literacy skills. We aim to make sure our children are ready to take on the world in the 21st century. Our children consistently use new technologies (I-pads and tablets) to support their learning. Diverse opportunities allow all styles of learners to have their needs met. Topics and themes allow staff to promote deep learning and find ways to allow pupils to expand and apply what they learn in a number of different ways.

We have a variety of themed weeks such as RE, Friendship, Arts, Science, Easter, Sports and Culture, where the children have a chance to work alongside others in mixed age groups and take part in meaningful and engaging learning. The feedback from these weeks is always very positive and we always celebrate the end of the week with a showcase, where we invite parents to come and see what the children have been up to.
