Inspiring Children to Love, Laugh, Learn and Live Life in all Its Fullness (John 10:10)

Confident, Resilient Individuals

Our approach to building confidence and resilience begins in the Foundation Stage where children are encouraged to play and explore, to solve problems, to share and communicate. Visits and visitors to school begin in Reception. Exciting visits and activities are a key part of learning. In key stage one, for example, everyone has the chance to visit a church and meet a farmer, to see a shark in the Deep and to go to the seaside with friends. Residential visits allow adventurous actives to be engaged in in a safe and risk-free environment. Activities that promote team building, collaboration and risk taking. There are more opportunities to develop skills in sewing, crafts, sports, music, cooking, gardening, science and technology through our wide range of extra-curricular clubs.

We are passionate about developing a growth mindset for children and you will see this encouraged throughout school. Children are encouraged to feel like an expert and to apply knowledge and skills from one subject to other areas of learning.

Children at St Aidan’s are encouraged to think about their future lives, both as they move into Middle school, and into the wider world as adults. World of Work Days provide a practical opportunity for children to learn about the variety of jobs and careers available, and the skills and attributes they will need to be successful. Topics also include opportunities to find out about different careers and raise children's aspirations.
