St Aidan’s CE VA First School has been rated outstanding by the National Society.
On Tuesday the 15th of March we were inspected by Mr Nigel Castledine on behalf of the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales and the National Society. As a Church of England School the National Society, our overseeing body, inspect church schools on behalf of the Church of England to identify how effective they are. They inspect us to see how well our distinctive Christian values support all pupils to achieve academically and develop spiritually and evaluates the extent to which our Christian ethos nurtures all stakeholders including pupils, parents and staff to reach their full potential. They also inspect the quality and the impact of our Collective Worship and Religious Education.
The Governors of St Aidan’s CE VA First School are delighted to confirm that following this rigorous inspection process the school has been rated as outstanding.
Governors and staff were particularly pleased that the exemplary behaviour of pupils was recognised and that Mr Castledine reinforced the Ofsted judgement that pupils are valued and feel safe in school and are confident in the anti-bullying policy and procedures of the school.
Teaching of RE including teaching about Christianity and other faiths was rated good and often outstanding which again fitted in with the findings of Ofsted about the quality of teaching and learning in our school.
Mr Castledine congratulated us on how articulate pupils were about the school values and was incredibly impressed by the confident and knowledgable way in which pupils contributed to and led Collective Worship.
We are sure that you will join with us in thanking all those who contributed to this exceptional report.
This report will be available on our school website and on the Church of England website.
Mrs Dorothy Gott
On behalf of the Governing Body of St Aidan’s CE VA First School
